Raising Awareness with the Barnstormers

Saturday night was our big silent auction to raise awareness for alopecia areata. It was our first time doing an event like this and was a lot of work...but a lot of fun! We auctioned off some autographed photos, bat, jersey, and some balls that we got during the season or were donated to us. It was game 3 of the playoffs between the Lancaster Barnstormers and York Revolution. Since York is only about 30 minutes from Lancaster, we knew there would be some Revs fans there as well. The Revolution also donated a few autographed items for us to sell as well.

Due to the rain out on Friday, a couple of guys that were scheduled to sign autographs could not make the Saturday game. We did have Eric Ackerman who is the only player to win a championship with Lancaster (06) and York (10). He signed autographs and talked to the fans before heading back to the mound to throw out the first pitch. We got to hand out the NAAF awareness bands, talk to people about our cause, and meet Carla. She has alopecia areata and has never met anyone else that has it. I hope we were able to provide a little support for her and spread the word around Lancaster and York.

So, now the big question...How much did we raise? $726! A huge thank you to the Barnstormers for letting us have our auction there and for their items. We also want to thank the Revolution, Josh Johnson, Sandy Keyes, Tommy Everidge, Beth Cardwell Photography, Aaron Herr, and Coach Cummings for their donation of auction items. Last I would like to thank my entire family for helping out and making the night a huge success!

Check out the photos below and back to updating the autographs tomorrow!
