Autograph Amy

Last week when we got to the ballgame, Amy Ditzler came up and gave us a $10 donation for NAAF.  She is a Barnstormers season ticket holder that is always down by the visiting team getting autographs.  Thanks Amy for following along and for the donation to NAAF.

Game 15: FLY EAGLES FLY!

Saturday night we attended the Lesean McCoy Celebrity Softball Game at Clipper Magazine Stadium.  The Eagles were taking on some other stars from the NFL and the 76ers. We got there early to try to get some autographs and take in the home run derby.  There were tons of Eagles fans there already and we knew getting autographs would be tough.  Not too long after we got there, Brian Westbrook came out and we each got a card signed.  We were also able to get the Eagles receivers coach and Jamar Chaney on the game roster.  During the home run derby the crowd went nuts...Michael Vick came walking out.  He wasn't on any roster or didn't even have a jersey but he was put in the lineup to bat last.  During the game he came out of the dugout and started to sign autographs.  Dad brought some extra Eagles cards just in case someone else showed up :)  I was able to get my Vick card signed!  In about the 5th inning we noticed Desean Jackson take his jersey off and head towards the exit.  We ran down to the parking lot where there was a mob of people waiting.  I ran over to the other side of the parking lot and was able to get him to sign and take a picture before he got in his car to leave.  All in all it was a good night.  It was a large, crazy crowd but lots of fun!  Despite the cheers for Vick, the loudest ovation came for Brian Westbrook and the biggest booooos came out everytime Drew Rosenhaus was announced.  Oh, the Eagles beat the NFL team 18-16.

Game 13 & 14: Lancaster Barnstormers sweep the Bridgeport Bluefish

Wednesday and Thursday nights we watched the Barnstormers take on the Bridgeport Bluefish.  It was a scorcher out both nights but was good to get to the park and also see our friends from the Bluefish.  Wednesday night was wrestling night and Hall of Famer Sgt Slaughter was there taking pictures and signing autographs.  Also before the game, Gavin was picked to be the Honorary Team Captain and got to take the lineup card out to the umpires with Butch Hobson.

Thursday night was Toy Story night and Buzz and Woody were there.  They were getting pictures with fans but the line was way too long.  My kid reporter video was played and we'll post it as soon as it is availalbe on Youtube.  The Barnstormers swept the series and put a firm grip on first place in the Freedom division.

Game 12: Lancaster Barnstormers 4 Long Island Ducks 3

Last week I was out of commission with a skin infection but Dad and Gavin went to see the Barnstormers take on the Long Island Ducks.  They got there early so Gavin could tape his next kid reporters video and got several autographs before the game. They also gave away the first 2012 team card strip set so we are excited to get them signed.  The Barnstormers won the battle of first place teams in what could be an Atlantic League Championship preview.

Game 11: Reading Phililes 5 Harrisburg Senators 4

Sunday we went to the Reading Phillies game with my uncles and my cousin Chad.  It was a HOT Sunday but it was Crazy Hot Dog Vendor fleece blanket giveaway and dollar dog day.  We got there early and were able to get a few autographs from some future Phillies stars like Trevor MaySebastian Valle, and Darin Ruf.  Gavin also got his Phillies hat signed by several stars and Batman!  Oh well :)   Reading won on a walk off home run by Tim Kennelly but we weren't there to see it.  We left early to go to the Majestic team store tent sale and got lots of cool new t shirts.  All in all it was a great day with family, baseball, autographs, and baseball t shirts.

Game 10: Lancaster Barnstormers 5 Sugar Land Skeeters 1

Let's play 2!  Sunday we went to the double header between the Barnstormers and Sugar Land Skeeters.  We took our friends Pastor Eric and Issac but we didn't know there was a storm brewing.  In the 5th inning of game 1 it started to pour...and pour...and pour.  Once the tarp came out we knew there were more storms coming.  We ended up heading to the car when it was dry and it was good we did.  They finally got things started but we were in bed by that time.  At least we had 5 good innings at the ballpark with friends.

Game 9: Reading Express 40 Chicago Slaughter 46

Saturday night we got to check out our 2nd football game.  We went to see the Reading Express take on the Chicago Slaughter of the Indoor Football League.  When we first arrived, we were greeted by our new friend Zach who gave Gavin and I each a team signed game ball and a couple of t shirts.  It was  Readings last home game of the season and so it was fan appreciation night.  They were giving away yearbooks, team photos, and some 5 gallon buckets to bang on during the game.  At the end of the game, the fans were allowed down on the field to get autographs and see the players.  One of the linemen, Bryan Wick, gave Gavin one of his gloves he wore and signed it for him.  Reading lost a close game but it was a great night for football!

Game 8: Lancaster Barnstormers 1 Somerset Patriots 0

Monday was a beautiful Memorial Day that we got to celebrate Veterans at the ballpark.  The Barnstormers put on a nice pre game show honoring Veterans from all different times.  We ended up doing pretty well on autographs as well.  We worked on getting the Patriots since we hadn't seen them yet this year and got almost all of our cards signed that we had.  We ended up leaving early because it was the last week of school but the Barnstormers won 1-0 on a walk off home run in the 10th!
