Game 7: Bowie Baysox 9 Altoona Curve 6

Saturday night we were invited back to the Bowie Baysox by our friend Kate.  They are the AA team of the Baltimore Orioles.  It was going to be a pretty cool night because there were a few Orioles coming off of injuries that would be playing for the Baysox that night.  Also, we wanted to meet Manny Machado who is one of the top prospects in all of baseball.  Kate took us down on the field and we were able to meet Manny, Mark Reynolds, Zach Britton, and talk to Mr. Kendall the manager.  It was pretty neat that he remembered us from last year.  Thanks again Kate and good luck in your new adventure!

Game 6: Lancaster Barnstormers 3 York Revolution 6

Last Sunday we took our friends Isaac and Abe to the Lancaster Barnstormers game.  We didn't get ourselves a lot of autographs but we were helping them get their balls signed.  We did get a few cards signed and our Fehlandt Lentini picture that our friend Sandy gave us. It was a fun day because it was Home Depot kids day so Abe and Gavin got to build something and we got to play catch on the field before the game.  York won the game 6-3 but it was still a fun Sunday at the ball park.

Breakfast with The Mayor

Saturday morning we had a father/kid breakfast at our church and had Ross Peeples from the Lancaster Barnstormers come and speak. He's not really the Mayor of Lancaster, but has earned the nickname because of his time here and his involvement in the community It was a lot of fun getting to eat with Ross, introduce him to some of my friends, and have him talk to the kids and their dads.  He talked about baseball, getting drafted, and how his faith has helped him in his professional baseball career.  We gave out lots of Barnstormer prizes and had a great morning.  He did sign autographs at the end and we got a couple of things signed even though we have like a hundred Ross autographs.  Thanks again Ross, you were awesome!

Rome Braves & Tommy Hanson

Last weekend we got a pretty cool package in the mail from the Rome Braves.  They sent us a 2011 team card set, a couple of rally towels, and an official South Atlantic League baseball signed by Tommy Hanson from when he was with them in 2009.  Tommy is now the ace of the Atlanta Braves staff and so it was really cool to get a ball signed by him.  Thanks to the Rome Braves for helping!

Game 5: Lancaster Barnstormers 8 Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 2

Saturday night we went to see the Lancaster Barnstormers and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.  We had lots of Blue Crabs cards to get signed since the team sent us a couple of sets right before the season.  We got the Blue Crabs players before the game and got a few Barnstormers cards signed after the game.  We got to meet Michael Schlact who dad says is the "King of Twitter".  Along with Michael Schlact you can get an inside look at professional baseball by following Christian Lopez, Brian Barton, Matt Padgett, Paco Figueroa, Jim Ed Warden, and Richard Gianotti. They definitely have the best "tweeting" team.  We were also able to get our Fehlandt Lentini cards signed that Bonnie Benson gave us from the Winnipeg Goldeyes so it was a good night.  The Barnstormers won the game 8-2 and ended up going on to sweep the series on Sunday.

Game 4: York Revolution 5 Bridgeport Bluefish 3

Sunday night we headed over the river to York to watch the Revolution take on the Bridgeport Bluefish.  We wanted to be able to catch up with our friend Luis Lopez and there are several former Barnstormers on both teams.  Actually there are 5 of them between the two teams.  At one point, Jonah Bayliss was pitching, Angel Flores was catching and Stephen Douglas was batting...all Barnstormers in 2011.So it was fun catching up with them and we were able to get lots of autographs!

Game 3: Lancaster Barnstomers 2 Sugar Land Skeeters 9

Friday night we took in our first regular season game of the season.  The Lancaster Barnstormers were home facing the Sugar Land Skeeters.  We were able to get a few autographs before the game, but the post game autograph party was cancelled because of rain.   My friend Sandy gave us some pictures of Tommy Everidge and Fehlandt Lentini and we were able to get a couple of the Tommy ones signed.  The Barnstormers ended up losing 9-2 to the Skeeters but it was just fun being back at the ballpark.

Winnipeg Goldeyes

One of the new Lancaster Barnstormers outfielders this season is Fehlandt Lentini.  He is good friends with our buddy Tommy Everidge.  Last Sunday night we were having pizza with them and so I asked him what teams he's been on so we could find some cards of him.  He had been on the Winnipeg Goldeyes and last season Bonnie Benson had sent us some signed cards of the Goldeyes.  I sent Bonnie an email to see if she happened to have any cards of Fehlandt and she was able to find 2 and send me.  Thanks again Bonnie and we can't wait to get them signed this weekend!

Norfolk Tides & Syracuse Chiefs

The mailbox was full again as we received card sets from the Norfolk Tides and the Syracuse Chiefs.  After looking through the cards, I know we will be able to get some of them signed since they are the AAA teams of the Orioles and Nationals.  There are also several players in the Atlantic League that are in the Chiefs set.  The Tides also sent an autographed card of their mascot Rip Tide. Thanks so much for helping and we are looking forward to getting some signed.
