Super Shocked!

Today was awesome! When I opened the mail I was super shocked to see what was inside. Apparently teams in Major League Baseball are aware of what I'm doing and I got a response today from my favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies! I got an official Major League baseball signed right on the sweet spot from Phillies right fielder Ben Francisco! So here is a special thanks to Ben Francisco, the Phillies, and Joe from NAAF!

Great signing

Today my brother Gavin was in the newspaper. He loves to get autographs too and we have lots of fun getting them together. We are Phillies fans, but the Barnstormers let kids 12 and under in free if they wear their youth athletic jersey and he is on the Red Sox this year. Great job Gavin!

UPDATE

For those of you just checking in...Here is what I'm doing this season. My name is Blake and I'm a huge sports fan. Baseball is my favorite, but I do love football and basketball as well. At the age of 1 I was diagnosed with alopecia areata and have been pretty much bald my whole life. I tell my friends that my body is allergic to my hair. I see kids that raise money for their charities and wondered what I could do. My brother Gavin and I love to get autographs and have over 1,000 autographed cards that we've gotten over the last several seasons. This season I will be donating $.05 for every card or item we get signed to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. That may not sound like a lot to you, but I'm only 10 years old. Also, my parents are going to double my donation and my grandparents have said they will help out too so I hope to raise a lot of money for alopecia.

I've already received a great amount of support from Minor League Baseball and also some Independent League Baseball teams. Also, there is a possibility of getting some things signed that I will auction off for charity. I will keep you posted on that. Follow along and I'll see you at the ballpark!

If you have any questions about my adventures or alopecia, feel free to contact me at blakelovesbaseball@yahoo.com.

More autos!

Many teams as you can see in previous posts have sent me cards to get autographed this season. Several teams have also sent me cards that were already autographed. There are mascots, common players, and superstars. I've also gotten some programs, photos, and pennants. These were items given from the Charleston Riverdogs, Roger Dean Stadium staff, Akron Aeros, South Bend Silver Hawks, Grand Praire Air Hogs, Lake Erie Crushers, State College Spikes, Gwinnett Braves, Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and the Quebec Capitals. The Tri City Valley Cats also sent some...but it was too many to scan! Take a look!

Total autographs so far: 110

Total raised to date: $5.50

Many Thanks!

More "Thank You's" to send. I've started sending thank you cards out to the teams that have helped me with my fundraiser, but I also like to mention them on here so everyone can see the great response from teams in minor league baseball. I've received MANY baseball cards, hats, t shirts, tattoos, game tickets, and the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for Gavin and I at several stadiums. So thanks to the following teams for your gifts, notes of encouragement, and support this season. There are more autographs to post from teams that have sent autographs to me and that will be coming on Thursday.

Barnstormers Fan Fest

We're off and running. Today was the Lancaster Barnstormers fan fest and I was able to get my first autographs of the season. Now, some teams have sent me autographed cards that will be counting towards my total, but I will get to them shortly in another post. These were the first ones I was able to get myself this season. 4 cards from the 2010 Barnstormers set: Aaron Herr, Matt Watson, Ross Peeples, and Cylo. Can't wait for the season to begin on April 29th!

Total raised to date: $.20

Counting Down

The Major league season is a week in, Minor League Baseball starts tomorrow, and the Independent Leagues are not far off. I can't wait to get to the ballparks and start getting some autographs. Until then, I have a few more teams to thank for their cards, tickets, stickers, and support.

More Mail!

My favorite time of the day right now is coming home from school and checking the mailbox. It's pretty neat that the teams have responded by sending cards and things to get autographed. Some have also sent game ticket vouchers, bobble heads, t shirts, hats, programs, schedules, stickers, and calendars. It sure makes getting the mail fun. I also put Gavin's name on a few so because he likes to get mail too. Here are the latest teams that I have to say "Thank You" too. You can visit their website by clicking on the logo.
